Designs, implements, facilitates, and evaluates multi-disciplinary simulation-based education that promotes clinical excellence, patient safety, team collaboration, and evidence-based practice across Benioff Children’s Hospitals Oakland Sites. Collaborates with clinical leaders, educators, the Program Manager, and the Medical Director of Simulation to assess learning needs, develop curriculum, facilitate simulation and structured debriefing, and evaluate learner outcomes.
Supports integration of simulation into the clinical setting with innovative techniques. The Clinical Nurse Simulation Educator applies advanced knowledge of simulation-based education to design, implement, facilitate, and evaluate multidisciplinary team training programs that strengthen clinical performance, teamwork, communication, and patient safety across pediatric care settings. This role partners with clinical leaders and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to identify educational needs, develop and facilitate simulation-based learning experiences, lead structured debriefings, and evaluate program outcomes to improve clinical practice and systems of care.
The Clinical Nurse Simulation Educator collaborates with the Program Manager, Medical Director of Simulation, and other key stakeholders to support the implementation, evaluation, continuous improvement, and growth of the simulation-based team training program. The Clinical Nurse Simulation Educator serves as an instructor and mentor for Simulation Clinical Facilitators and contributes to the ongoing development of simulation instructors and implementation of educational best practices.

Using education and simulation best practices, designs, develops targeted, evidence-based simulation curricula including scenarios and educational activities that align with identified needs and objectives.
Facilitates implementation of multidisciplinary simulation based learning experiences in-situ or in the simulation center including conduction and debriefing of simulation experiences. Evaluates learner performance, team dynamics and program effectiveness. Helps develop and modify evaluation tools.
Uses data to recommend improvements to simulation curriculum and education programs. Ensures simulation activities support organizational standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and patient safety initiatives. 20% YES OUTREACH AND COLLABORATION: Supports simulation-based education and training requests from internal departments and external healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and community partners.
Assists with the planning, coordination, and delivery of simulation activities that extend the program's educational mission and foster collaborative partnerships. 10% YES COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION Participates in multidisciplinary committees, task forces, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational projects that support patient safety, clinical excellence, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities. 10% YES TRAINING, MENTORING and INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT: Builds organizational capacity by promoting simulation best practices, developing, mentoring and coaching new simulation instructors in simulation methodology, facilitation and structured debriefing. , Supports the ongoing development of simulation-based education across the children’s health system. 10% YES ADMINISTRATIVE: Collaborates with the Program Manager and Medical Director of Simulation to support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the simulation program.
Assists with developing and maintaining simulation program standards, policies, procedures, and operational workflows. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience Knowledge of pertinent regulatory and accrediting agency standards, educational program design, training for impact methodology, performance improvement methodology, facilitative leadership methodology, and simulation technology. Experience in design, development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary simulation (including standardized patients) programs using adult learning principles Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills to effectively codify programs/policies, manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated teamwork leadership experience, excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a clinical setting with physicians, clinical staff and learners.
Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, physiology and clinical application.
Master's degree in Nursing Strong technical knowledge with simulator use and moulage/scenario preparation Required License/Certification: Registered Nurse in the State of California Active American Heart Association PALS certification Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
