Codes are assigned to all diagnostic and procedural statements as documented in each patient’s medical record to determine the most accurate and optimal MS-DRG assignment. Duties/Responsibilities: Thoroughly reads and interprets documentation in the medical record to identify all diagnoses and procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency with overall utilization of hospital encoder/grouper and its functions. Effectively utilizes AHA Coding Guidelines and other reference sources available within the department. Serves as coding resource for other departments/providers.
