Assists with setting up of meal service station; serving meals; breaking down station after meals, cleaning and sanitation, and maintaining equipment. Is cross-trained at other stations to help with break relief. May involve operation of cash register and handling of money. Practices excellent customer service skills in all areas. RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and assembles food items needed for assigned station.
Cleans, chops, slices, grates or grinds fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheese needed for production. Prepares/cuts desserts.
Cooks, serves and replenishes food/drink/materials at station as assigned. Assures products served are fresh, attractive and appropriately portioned
Inspects and ensures proper quality and temperature of all food items. Ensures appropriate temperature ranges are maintained throughout meal service. Records all food temperatures periodically. Corrects discrepancies and records in log.
Labels and dates all perishable items. Rotates stock using the FIFO (First IN/First OUT) principle.
Assists with maintaining clean counters, tables, chairs, and booths in the dining room. Ensures trash is disposed of in the proper way.
Ensures that all areas of food borne illness prevention checklist are in compliance with DHEC regulations.
Alerts supervisor to any complaints/problems with customers immediately.
Attends and participates in all necessary hospital and departmental in-services and meetings.
If assigned Cashier Duties:
Must sign and adhere to Cash Handler’s Agreement.
Responsible for totaling cafeteria sales, handling of cash, charge sales, payroll deductions and verifies money from cash drawer at meal period end
