Patient Unit - EveningsThe Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) at the New York Presbyterian Hospital is part of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The CASAC’s primary function is to provide comprehensive counseling to alcohol/substance dependent patients. This is accomplished by performing a complete assessment of each patient, identifying areas of need, developing individualized treatment plans and evaluating effectiveness of treatment. As well, the CASAC helps patients to focus on maintaining total abstinence and make a strong connection to the 12 Step self-help programs.
