The Director of Advanced Practice and Nursing Services provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurocritical Care, Stroke, Neuro-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pain Management, and related neuroscience specialties.
This highly visible leadership role partners closely with physician, nursing, and administrative leaders to develop and optimize innovative care models that enhance patient access, quality outcomes, workforce effectiveness, and operational performance. The Director is responsible for advancing APP workforce strategy, including recruitment, retention, professional development, succession planning, onboarding, transition to practice, and performance management.
The successful candidate will serve as a key advisor on APP practice, workforce planning, clinical integration, and operational improvement across both inpatient and ambulatory settings. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can build scalable, high-performing advanced practice programs while fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and excellence in patient care. Ideal candidates will bring significant advanced practice leadership experience, a strong understanding of clinical operations and workforce development, and a passion for developing innovative solutions that support both providers and patients within a complex neuroscience environment.

Develops, directs and coordinates the advanced care provider program for the department when there are 50 or more advanced care providers within the department. Ensures implementation of the overall direction and administration of institutional advanced care provider programs within the department. Position Key Accountabilities: Manages all aspects of the advanced care provider programs within the department to include: certified registered nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), certified nurse midwives (CNM), and certified nurse anesthetists (CRNA).
Responsible for overall operations, staffing, planning, scheduling, budgeting and quality management. Develops, implements and coordinates policies and procedures regarding the hiring, credentialing, privileging, scope of practice, performance appraisals, and professional development of advanced care providers. Responds to emergency situations.
Provides leadership and direction to the advanced practice provider community within the department by ensuring departmental advanced care provider compliance with professional and regulatory state and national requirements. Leads and promotes collaborative relationships with advanced providers, institutional leaders and departments to assure the advancement of organizational goals, programs and projects. Functions, as needed and approved, as a licensed and credentialed clinical advanced practice provider within the department.
Works collaboratively with department leadership, faculty and other members of the healthcare team to meet the needs of the department. Ensures adequate dissemination of information, and acts as a resource for ACP's to ask questions, voice concerns, provide educational content, share best practices and discuss any other pertinent information. Develops and monitors a section budget.
Develops a system to meet all Continuous Quality Improvement requirements. Responds to emergency situations. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
