Days Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking an experienced Director Patient Care Services to join our Patient Care Services, Nursing team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts . Our Patient Care Services team provides leadership and oversight for Medical Surgical Nursing services, Clinical Supervisors, and the Rapid Response Team , working closely with nursing leadership, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and operational partners to deliver exceptional patient care, patient safety, and operational excellence.
The Director Patient Care Services role offers the opportunity to lead complex inpatient nursing operations, drive strategic initiatives, advance nursing practice, and influence organizational outcomes while supporting patients, serving the community, and collaborating with highly skilled clinical and operational leaders across the health system. The Director Patient Care Services Will: Provide strategic and operational leadership for Medical Surgical Nursing services, Clinical Supervisors, and the Rapid Response Team , ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, programs, and services that support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Direct fiscal planning, budget development, resource allocation, and financial performance management across assigned areas. Lead and support department leaders through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
Foster collaborative relationships across disciplines and departments to improve patient outcomes, operational effectiveness, and organizational performance. Lead initiatives that strengthen patient flow, clinical operations, patient safety, staffing effectiveness, and quality outcomes throughout assigned service areas. Support and advance the practice of Clinical Supervisors and Rapid Response Team members through workforce planning, professional development, process improvement, and operational oversight.
Identify, lead, and manage organizational change initiatives, ensuring effective communication, engagement, and implementation. Analyze program performance through operational, clinical, financial, and patient experience metrics and implement improvement strategies as needed. Develop operational and strategic goals, action plans, and long-term growth initiatives responsive to healthcare industry trends and organizational priorities.
Partner with physician, nursing, and operational leaders to establish and sustain clinical processes that advance quality, safety, patient flow, workforce engagement, and patient experience goals. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, patient safety, and professional practice standards. Lead the planning and implementation of new programs, services, staffing models, and clinical operations.

Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's degree required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in a healthcare or related clinical environment. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, operational leadership, human resource management, and financial management. Strong knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, patient care operations, and nursing practice.
& Skills Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field. Experience leading Medical Surgical Nursing, Clinical Supervisor teams, Rapid Response Teams, or other inpatient nursing operations within an acute care environment. Demonstrated success implementing quality, patient safety, operational improvement, workforce engagement, and patient flow initiatives.
