More about our team The Director, Revenue Cycle provides strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of all revenue cycle operations across the organization, including Central Business Office and facility-based business office functions. Responsible for Patient Access, Billing, Customer Communications, Collections, and revenue integrity initiatives, this role ensures compliance with all regulatory, coding, billing, and reimbursement requirements while promoting operational excellence and financial performance.
Through analysis of financial and operational results, the Director develops and implements strategies to improve revenue cycle effectiveness, optimize reimbursement, and strengthen compliance. Working collaboratively with corporate and facility leadership, the Director provides guidance, education, and support to drive consistency in policies, processes, and performance standards, ensuring revenue cycle operations align with organizational goals, strategic objectives, and the company's mission and values.
How you’ll contribute A Director, Revenue Cycle who excels in this role will: Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all revenue cycle operations, including Patient Access, Billing, Customer Communications, Collections, and Central Business Office functions. Direct and monitor the complete revenue cycle process from patient access through claim adjudication, payment posting, and accounts receivable resolution.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including billing and coding standards, HIPAA privacy regulations, collections laws, and payer-specific requirements. Safeguard the financial integrity of revenue cycle operations through effective controls, audits, reconciliations, and revenue recognition practices. Partner with executive leadership, corporate finance, facility CFOs, and operational leaders on matters related to revenue optimization, reimbursement, financial reporting, and accounts receivable management.
Develop, implement, and monitor revenue cycle performance metrics, productivity standards, and operational dashboards to drive continuous improvement. Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement, implementing corrective actions to enhance reimbursement and reduce denials. Oversee audit readiness and ensure all revenue cycle activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Lead, develop, and mentor revenue cycle teams, including billing, accounts receivable, verification, and cash posting functions, while fostering a culture of accountability and high performance. Establish and maintain strong relationships with governmental, commercial, managed care, and third-party payers to resolve escalated reimbursement issues and improve revenue outcomes. Monitor physician billing, grant billing, contract billing, and third-party vendor performance to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant reimbursement practices.
Develop, maintain, and standardize revenue cycle policies, procedures, and workflows to drive consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence across facilities. Prepare and present revenue cycle reports, analyses, forecasts, and performance updates to executive leadership, auditors, and other key stakeholders. Provide strategic guidance, education, and training to facility and corporate teams regarding revenue cycle best practices, regulatory changes, and process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational goals, enhance financial performance, and align revenue cycle initiatives with the company's mission, values, and strategic objectives. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Proficiency in using technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field from an accredited school required. Five years of revenue cycle management in a high volume/multi-facility environment required.
