Family Peer Advocate

Day Shift - 7.5 HoursRichmond University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Family Peer Advocate (FPA) to join our OMH Youth ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) program.

The Family Peer Advocate will draw on their lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver of a child with serious emotional and/or behavioral challenges to provide support, advocacy, and education to families. This role is essential to promoting family empowerment, engagement, and resiliency.

Provide advocacy, support, and education to families participating in the Youth ACT program. Use lived experience to empower parents/caregivers and model resiliency and hope. Assist families in navigating the mental health system and other child- and family-serving systems.

Facilitate parent support groups, family education sessions, and community engagement activities. Promote quality services that enhance family voice and participation in care planning. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with program and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with program staff and treatment team members to ensure coordinated care. Perform other duties as assigned.

Family Peer Advocate (FPA) credential required. Must be the parent or primary caregiver of a child with serious emotional/behavioral challenges. Experience navigating mental health and related child-serving systems required.

Previous experience in parent or group facilitation, advocacy, or community organization preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work with diverse families. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

Basic computer skills helpful.
