Certifications
✓High School Diploma/GED and completion of an EMT-Paramedic program with three (3) years of related experience.
✓Certification as a nationally registered paramedic.
✓MS Paramedic required within 2 weeks of hire.
✓Certification as a critical care paramedic required within two (2) years of hire.
✓Certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, NIMS (ICS 100 and 700) and either BTLS or PHTLS or ITLS.
✓Certification in neonatal resuscitation required within six (6) months of hire.
Certification in ABLS and ASLS preferred.
Certification in critical care emergency transport program and as a certified flight paramedic preferred, neonatal-pediatric transport or critical care paramedic preferred.
Qualifications
✓Maximum weight limit of 250 pounds when fully clothed. (cannot exceed weight of 250 pounds fully clothed).
✓Individual must be able to lift a patient weighing 250 pounds onto a stretcher and to carry said patient and stretcher for a minimum of fifty (50) feet and load patient and stretcher into a helicopter, or other vehicle, with the help of other provider.
✓Knowledge of the information and techniques to identify, diagnose and treat human injuries or diseases for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.
✓Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for the provision of emergency and critical care for inter-facility and scene transports.
✓Verbal and written communication skills.
✓Ability to remain calm in emergency conditions.
✓Ability to provide physical and psychological treatment and comfort to patients.
Certification as a Louisiana NREMTP and Alabama NREMTP preferred.
