Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position. OverviewPOSITION

The Gig Certified Medical Office Assistant Care Guide is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following up with patients. Similar to a gig model, the Care Guide will be able to control flexibility of preferred shifts/locations and create a schedule that works for them. There is no minimum number of hours needed to work but it is limited to less than 30 hours per week.

The Gig Care Guide will be paid an hourly rate on regular pay dates. It is the role of the Gig Care Guide to companion patients and their “secondary guests" through the entire experience to maximize clinical excellence, reduce treatment times, and maximize the patient experience; before, during, and after the patient visit. The Gig Care Guide is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back-office duties in the outpatient management of patients on a rotating basis.

This position has access to open shifts or shift portions, with a limit of 30 hours per week. Additionally, the Gig Care Guide is responsible for a variety of clinical functions within a clinic setting requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate, the Gig Care Guide has continuous contact with providers, patients, patient families and significant others, community agencies, patient care staff and management.

QualificationsREQUIRED

High school diploma/GED and completion of a medical assistant (MA) program, certification course, or equivalent MA training/experience. Licensure/ Certification: CMA-Certified Medical Assistant current certification by one the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential. American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential.

National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential. National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential. American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) to be completed within 2 weeks of hire date.

National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). American Allied Health (AAH). Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. This position requires specific knowledge and training related to the performance of administrative skills, technical / clinical skills and medical procedures commonly performed in a medical practice setting.

Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of Epic.

Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
