Health Unit Assistant/Monitor Tech The Health Unit Assistant (HUA) provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth operations within a healthcare unit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The HUA serves as a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, assisting with administrative functions, patient flow, and assisting with unit activities. The primary function of the Monitor Tech (MT) is continual observation and recognition of normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. This is accomplished through accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms via monitors.

High school diploma or equivalent Two, four hour classes on cardiac rhythm interpretation will be integrated during the orientation period. A rhythm interpretation competency needs to be successfully completed within the initial 90 day orientation Keyboard skills required Principles of effective communication. Knowledge of data entry system Effective organizational skills and time management Must be able to complete orientation and demonstrate competency in both roles prior to the completion of the 90 day probation period.
Prior experience in acute care setting Prior experience as Health Unit Coordinator or Monitor Technician, helpful but not necessary Medical Terminology *Must be available the first week of employment for HUC orientation that takes place Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM*
