Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC) , a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a full-time BC/BE Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB)/General Surgeon to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, high-quality surgical care for patients with benign and malignant diseases of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas, and will contribute to the growth of a multidisciplinary HPB program as well as participate in the general surgery call requirements.

Multi-disciplinary cancer program with tertiary level support, consultants and trial opportunities Key Responsibilities Perform complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical procedures, including hepatectomies, pancreaticoduodenectomies (Whipple procedures), distal pancreatectomies, biliary reconstructions, and management of hepatic/biliary malignancies Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards (oncology, radiology, pathology, gastroenterology) to develop individualized treatment plans Provide on-call coverage for emergent HPB and general surgery Collaborate with interventional radiology, medical oncology, and GI teams on complex case management Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC) Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality conferences, and departmental meetings Work Experience Required Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency Completion of a fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, or Abdominal Transplant Surgery with significant HPB experience Board certification (or eligibility) in General Surgery; additional certification in Complex General Surgical Oncology is a plus Active or eligible for state medical license DEA registration BLS/ACLS certification
