As an Inpatient Charge Nurse , you will serve as a clinical leader in a specialized intermediate care environment caring for patients with hematologic malignancies and other complex conditions.
This is an opportunity for an experienced nurse to combine hands-on clinical expertise with leadership, mentorship, and operational coordination in one of healthcare's most advanced and rapidly evolving specialties. The Role The Stem Cell Transplant Unit is a specialized 15-room intermediate care unit focused on Cellular Therapy, Stem Cell Transplantation, and recovery. With a supportive 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio on both day and night shifts , nurses have the opportunity to deliver highly personalized care while developing advanced expertise in hematology-oncology nursing.
As the Charge Nurse, you will be a central leader on the unit, helping coordinate care delivery, support staff, and ensure a seamless patient experience. You will remain actively involved in patient care while serving as a trusted resource for the nursing team throughout each shift. Key responsibilities include: Leading daily unit operations to support safe patient flow and exceptional care delivery.
Coordinating staffing assignments and resources based on patient acuity and needs. Serving as a clinical resource, coach, and mentor for nursing team members. Supporting care escalation and operational decision-making.
Facilitating communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary care teams. Promoting a positive, accountable, and patient-focused practice environment. Supporting patient rounding, service recovery, and patient experience initiatives.
Ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Helping foster a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program that will be completed within 5 years of hire.
RN Clinician 2 or higher who has been employed on the unit for 6 months or has had previous Charge Nurse experience from another unit/organization.
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping.
Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $47.23 - $62.15 hourly.
Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
