Role PurposeThe Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 4, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, provides extensive support to staff pharmacists and helps guide the daily pharmacy operation. This position assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management.

This position also authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians. ResponsibilitiesMaintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance. Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.

Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness. Assumes primary responsibility for advanced level tasks, functions or an area of specialty, to include telepharmacy, investigation programs, diversion/regulatory programs, medication history collection, and revenue cycle management; authenticates the work performed by other technicians, vaccinators, and/or lead technicians.

Become proficient in required and continuous learning for the advanced role, including the advanced use and maintenance of associated electronic/automated systems, and any necessary certifications; serves as a subject matter expert, as denoted by advanced certification recognized by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or other required training outside of pharmacy. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.

The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
