Interventional Radiology Tech - Imaging

Performs all angiographic, interventional and diagnostic radiology procedures floating between the two modalities at the discretion of the Radiology Supervisor/Imaging Manager. Takes call during unstaffed hours. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Six months on the job training or completion of an Intervention/Special Procedure program preferred.

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) BLS required by end of conditional period. ARRT Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability Must have good patient skills. Computer knowledge, catheter, guide wire and sterile technique skill preferred.

Venipuncture. Experience 1 year as a Staff Radiology Technologist preferred. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Interventional Radiology equipment Computer workstation Power injectors Angiographic and Interventional supplies WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Fast-paced, stressful, moving heavy equipment.

Will require periods of long standing with lead apron on. Much of the work is done in radiation area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk.

The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch. INTERRELATIONSHIPS Must maintain good working relationship with Radiologists, Radiology Nurse.

Must work with all Imaging staff as well as ER and floor staff. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and families. SUPERVISORY DUTIES None, however, must be able to work independently ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform function as a Radiology Technologist in interventional suite.

Perform all special procedure exams. Responsible for call - after hours. Schedule patient exams.

Stocking the Interventional Suite. Ability to assess, treat and or care for patients of all ages. Perform clerical/file room duties/computer use as necessary.

Uses radiographic exposure technique that minimizes radiation exposure. Properly shields patients. Assists in the training of new technologists.
