About the role

Promotes effective material management by performing daily ordering and inventory control functions of all supplies utilized at any BCH campus location, in stock or by special order. Works as a member of a team with other Supply Chain staff to maintain adequate inventory stock levels in patient-care areas and warehouse storerooms for all facilities as established.

Promotes effective material management by performing daily ordering and inventory control functions of all supplies utilized at any BCH campus location, in stock or by special order. Works as a member of a team with other Supply Chain staff to maintain adequate inventory stock levels in patient-care areas and warehouse storerooms for all facilities as established. Pulls and receives incoming shipments/supplies, being accountable for accurate accounting of quantity and quality of goods received.

Is accountable for accurately issuing out supplies, performing regular expiration sweeps; and charging appropriate departments for supplies received from the warehouse storerooms. Ensures accurate and timely delivery of all incoming packages to appropriate departments. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training 1.

Competent inventory control practices/procedures within assigned departmental areas and within storerooms 8. Has no physical limitations to pushing, pulling, walking, and/or standing for long durations of time. 9. Has excellent organizational skills and utilizes these to maintain standardized storerooms. 10.

Must show initiative and flexibility to adapt work habits based on variable patient volumes for ordering of supplies 11. Ability to perform work under minimal supervision 12. Knowledge of medical supplies preferred 13.

Clerical aptitude and computer programs including Microsoft suite and Meditech hospital-based programs preferred 14. Must be able to read English. 15. Must be able to read small print on shelving, barcodes, packaging, supplies, etc.

Experience 1. Computer experience—minimum one year preferred 2. Material Management within a healthcare organization including inventory control, purchasing and knowledge of supplies utilized in surgery preferred MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED 1.

Computer, keyboard, software applications 2. Purchasing forms, e.g., purchase orders, requisitions, packing slips, bills of lading, etc. 3. General office equipment, e.g., fax, copier, printer, calculator 4.

Telephone 5. Scanning device 6. General warehouse equipment, e.g., Supply carts, pallet jack, dock leveler, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Subject to risks inherent in working in health care facility. 3. High-pressure environment with frequent interruptions, deadlines, and pending emergencies 4.

Exposure to fatigue, back strain, long periods of standing, walking, multiple stimuli and noises 5. Employee is frequently required to stoop, crouch, twist, kneel, squat, and sit for possibly long periods of time 6. AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Orders and maintains reasonable levels of specified inventory supplies within the parameters set by the department management team. 2. Is responsible for managing and maintaining supply areas in patient-care areas.

This includes but is not limited to correct labeling of supplies, maintaining appropriate par levels, removing overstocked supplies, restocking misplaced supplies, coordinating supply location changes with nursing staff and keeping all up to date on a daily basis. 3. Maintains current purchasing inventory and receiving records in Supply Chain ERP system. 4. Maintains special orders to be ordered in conjunction with inventory supplies to minimize the number of purchase orders. 5.

Where applicable, maintains database for patient chargeable supplies to insure proper labeling and pricing. Labels said supplies with labels. 6. Acts as a member of the Supply Chain team in supplying the hospital with supplies needed for the hospital to provide excellent care for their patients. 7.

Completes inventory of storeroom supplies in patient care areas on daily basis in conjunction with other members of the Supply Chain team. 8. Rotates dated stock in all storeroom and patient care supply areas and checks for outdated supplies in accordance with schedule set by management. 9. Staff will be required to cover weekend shifts and holidays as the need arises. 10.

Communicates stock deficiencies and inventory adjustments to management with either written or verbal communication. 11. Maintains all supply stocking locations, storerooms, and dock in a neat and orderly condition. Removing excess cardboard, utilizing bins, and stocking supplies in the appropriate locations.

Removal of trash, cardboard, and correct handling of recycled products is included. 12. Answers telephone in a friendly and courteous manner. Responds to voice mail whenever message light is indicated and follows through with requests in a timely fashion. 13.

Utilizes good problem-solving techniques and follows through to insure good customer service is provided. 14. Breaks down shipments and correctly marks all packages for delivery utilizing established delivery destinations with departments’ specifications. 15. Is familiar with hospital departments and delivery locations to insure proper handling of all delivered supplies. 16.

Maintains use of proper forms; e.g. bill of lading, packing slips, backorder slips, receiving documents, etc. 17. Cross-trained to insure proper distribution of supplies at all campus locations. 18. Acts as advocate to patient care areas and other departments to follow-up on supply related issues. 19.

Possesses positive work habits and presents constructive, positive, professional image to persons inside and outside the department. 20. Represents ENCORE! House values. 21.

Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards. 22. Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure. 23. Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include: a. the use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses); b. hand washing as appropriate.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Charges/credits supplies to appropriate departments as necessary. 2. Processes return storeroom supplies from hospital departments and patient care areas as needed. 3.

Is cross trained for other Supply Chain department positions as needed. 4. Participates as an active member of the Supply Chain department by offering suggestions to improve customer service, improve current processes or resolve problem areas inside or outside the hospital environment. 5. Works closely with department managers to ensure good communication of all supply utilization and documentation is accurate. 6.

Oversees inventory products to ensure proper utilization and documentation is accurate. 7. Keeps management updated on issues arising within the department to ensure communication is maintained. 8. Other duties as assigned.
