RESPONSIBILITIESIndependently and accurately perform routine and complex molecular testing, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCRReview preliminary and final test results. Assist in resolution of technical problems in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Record, compile and maintain records according to laboratory policies to ensure state and federal regulations are upheld for all reagents, procedures, and equipment used in the testing process.

Assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new procedures and protocols. Maintain patient confidentiality. Coordinate daily communications of laboratory with physicians and other parties.

Participate in educational activities. Perform other related work as requiredCLIA QUALIFICATIONS (42 CFR 493.1489)Doctoral, master’s, or bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics. Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical lab technology.

Educational equivalent to Associate’s degree with at least:60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology;OR60 semester hours including 24 hours of science that includes 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours chemistry, biology, medical technology in any combination;AND3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed.
