How you’ll contribute A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role: As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care to patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions while obtaining precertification’s. Performs admission and concurrent precertification’s for patients to ensure that the claim has an authorization number to prevent denials. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with payors, staff, etc.
Reviews charts for clinical information to obtain precertification. Maintains proper telephone etiquette to referral sources. Manages patients under RN case manager supervision.
Evaluates patient status to ensure it is correct per medical necessity for appropriate reimbursement. What we’re looking for Applicants should have a current state LPN license. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional requirements include: Active North Carolina LPN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Previous Family Medicine or Pediatric Care is required.
