Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. A multi-skilled person dedicatedto assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervisionand responsibility of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead. ResponsibilitiesReceives and directs messages, (electronic, in person andtelephone calls) to the appropriate personnel.
Makes contactsto other departments, physicians, patients and other outsideorganizations as necessary for the departmental/practiceoperations. Provides excellent customer service forpatients/families/representatives and other members of thetreatment team. Maintains patient scheduling functions, and sets patientappointments through established guidelines.
Interviews and completes the registration process for patientsutilizing the specific service. Keys patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, patient orders,charges and payments as defined in the electronic medicalrecord. Performs cashiering functions as it relates to co-payments orother patient payments/collections.
May perform routineclerical duties for the department. Perform venipuncture and administer routine, non-controlledmedications. Administer medication as directed by and under the directsupervision of licensed physician.
Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by theprovider. Perform basic laboratory procedures including asepticprocedures and taking patient's vital signs. QualificationsExperience
- 1 year
- Medical assistant Preferred Experience - 1: 2 years
- Two to Four years Clerical/customer service experience -ideally in a health care related industry Preferred Experience - 2: 1 year
- One year experience with third party payors and computer experience for in putting data and reviewing patient demographic material
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire Medical Terminology Certificate - preferred -within 30 days **Additional Details** Requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.
High School Diploma / GED equivalent required at time of hire
