The Maintenance Supervisor will provide leadership to facilities maintenance, provide supervision for the boiler plant, HVAC, energy center, mechanical, electrical, barrier permit/hotwork, supervise of carpentry/generalists, facilities coordinator service center, clinical engineering, and space planning of the organization. The position reports to the Facilities Director. The Supervisor is accountable for providing optimal customer relations, operational support, project and maintenance management, for facilities within Bassett Healthcare Network.

To provide supervision for fire safety in the absence of the Facilities Director. Ensures the safe, clean, effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all facilities and the mechanical, electrical and building systems therein. Responsible for the overall management coordination, and direction of maintenance staff and maintenance services.

Provides guidance and leadership as part of the capital development process as needed. Actively engages in the planning and implementation of capital projects to support continued operations and development in the categories of renovations and new construction. Develops and implements policies at the department level.

Manages and coordinates the scheduling, operation and support activities of Bassett Healthcare Network (Bassett Medical Center, O'Connor Hospital, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, A. O. Fox Hospital, Little Falls Hospital and Regional maintenance offsites) maintenance departments including Mechanical, HVAC, Carpentry/Generalist, Electrical, Barrier/Hotwork Coordinator, Boiler Plant, and Clinical EngineeringDevelop preventative and corrective maintenance plans for systems and equipmentDevelop and implement the annual department operating plan including operating and capital budgets, to ensure effective department performanceTo plan new systems for the department that are sensitive to organizational needs and ensure efficient accomplishment of objectives, and to secure resources as necessaryEstimate projects requests as needed to support the AOPProvide sketches and input to project in the design phasesDevelop and maintain a work group management structure, operating procedures, and staffing to meet the communication needs of the entityManage the appropriate distribution of Bassett’s Maintenance resources enabling key systems to be maintained and objectives to be achievedEstablish and/or staff appropriate intra and interdepartmental committees related to effectively accomplishing Bassett's objectivesTo direct the evaluation, development and maintenance of control systems pertaining to (human resources, fiscal, operational) management, to monitor use of resources in accordance with plans and budgets, and to provide reports to senior management to assist in their control of communication program resources in their areas of responsibilityTo direct the development and maintenance of administrative policies for the corporation that define limits of actions and that provide guidelines for decision making, ensuring compliance with Board and management directives, federal and state laws, and regulations, and accreditation requirementsTo identify needs for information or service from the department in order to accomplish organizational objectives or standards; and to evaluate whether appropriate systems are in place to serve those needsTo conduct self in a manner to achieve results in ways consistent with organizational values and to provide a constructive example for others to do likewiseTo establish timely and effective communications with department staff to keep them aware of important corporate, divisional, and departmental information and to receive information and insights from themTo maintain an active role in the community as a representative of Bassett Healthcare Network and to represent the organization to both internal and external constituent groups in such a manner as to enhance the image of the corporation and to further its objectivesTo ensure that all areas of the organization receive adequate advice, assistance; and service that aids them in attaining related objectives; and to be a source of information and understanding for all management, especially senior staff, to increase their understanding and responsibility regarding these issuesTo evaluate, develop, and maintain departmental performance improvement standards and to participate as directed in the Bassett Performance Improvement ProgramTo review and approve departmental policies, procedures, plans, and Activities, ensuring that they are within acceptable standards for the NetworkProvides safety orientation and annual mandatory education trainingAssists department managers with department specific safety training as neededTo evaluate, develop, and maintain departmental performance improvement standards and to participate as directed in the Bassett Performance Improvement ProgramTo ensure that all employees in the department know what is to be accomplished in their jobs; what authority they have to accomplish their jobs; whether results of their performance are satisfactory; and, what they can do to improve performanceTo identify professional development needs for supervisory staff within the department, to monitor the development of staff, and to plan for successionMaintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA regulationsOther duties as requested by supervisor What we need from youEducation:High School Diploma or GED, required2 year/Associate Degree in facilities maintenance or mechanical/electrical field, requiredHigh School diploma/GED highly preferred with an additional 2 years of experience may be consideredExperience:Minimum 1 year experience in the interpretation of NY State Building Codes and/or related NFPA codes, requiredMinimum 3 years of supervisory experience in the facilities maintenance or mechanical/electrical fields, preferredLicense/ Certification:OSHA 30 hour course certification must be obtained with 2 years of hire, requiredTJC basecamp training or NFPA 101 Life Safety Code class must be obtained within three years of hire date, requiredMust possess a valid NYS Class D driver’s license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles, requiredSkills:AccountabilityAccuracyAnalysis & EvaluationAttention to DetailBudgetingCritical ThinkingManage PeoplePhysical
