A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. ResponsibilitiesRoom patients and prepare them for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, height, weight, and other required measurements. Administer vaccines, and medications Complete patient pre-charting and ensure medical records are accurate and ready for provider visits.
Navigate and maintain records in Florida SHOTS, including reviewing and updating immunization information. Complete School Entry Forms and other required patient documentation. Assist providers with sports physicals and related patient evaluations.
Perform vision and hearing screenings according to established protocols. Triage patient phone calls and electronic messages, routing concerns appropriately and ensuring timely follow-up. Answer incoming calls and provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.
Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments. Support front office operations by assisting with patient check-in and check-out as needed. Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and deliver high-quality patient care.
QualificationsRequirements High School Diploma or GED. Must be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 6 months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferred. Necessary SkillsAbility to communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks. Knowledge of ambulatory health care or related health care fields. Skilled in conflict resolution.
Ability to use computers. Required Licensure/CertificationsMust obtain medical assistant certification within 6 months of date of hire/transfer into the position. Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
