Performs simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and procedures.
Approves the performance of tests by technicians. Assumes accountability for patient tests by providing a high standard of quality using independent judgment in the performance of standard operating procedures and complex instrumentation in varying sample environments. ResponsibilitiesPerforms both routine and advanced test procedures on tissue, blood and/or body fluids.
Uses analytical techniques appropriate for all age specific patients. Performs, evaluates and records quality control for each test performed. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities of the laboratory.
Performs pre-analytical functions required to prepare specimens for accurate analysis. Ensures proper operation of all analyzers and equipment. Documents all action taken.
Trains new employees and laboratory science students. Communicates technical information accurately and effectively resulting in improved patient care. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and supports initiatives that improve financial strength.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent that meets qualifications for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist from the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel. Must meet state licensure requirements as stated in FL Statue 64B3-5.003 Technologist. One (1) year experience in NAACLS approved program OROne (1) year working as a Technologist in a hospital laboratory.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess either a temporary or current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specialty(s) required for the job. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required): Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
