The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service and performing administrative duties in a healthcare setting. This position is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Greets patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
  • Answers incoming call, route calls, and respond to Telephone encounters promptly
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health (ECW) system
  • Input new patient and update existing patient information
  • Create and schedule incoming referrals
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect co-pays and previous balances
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out appointments
  • Help facilitate communication between patients, providers, and other departments
  • Handle correspondence to including to fax box, emails, and mail
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area
  • Run daily reports including Day Sheet, Co-Pay Report, Daily Credit Card Settlement Report
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as required.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned Interpersonal Relations Ensures that own daily behavior reflects and meets the intent and expectations inherent in the Mission Statement including a) problem solving for patients, visitors and others: b) a positive attitude and manner; and c) working together as an effective team. Greets patients and families by name, introduces self to new patients, respects privacy and confidentiality at all times. Accident or Health Hazards Requires exposure to communicable disease common to a clinic environment. The tasks performed on the job produce to injuries (cuts, fractures, strains, burns, etc.) obtained in use of equipment, hazardous material or health hazards (based on contact with communicable diseases) that could result in permanent or long-term illness or injury. Physical Demands Duties may include light to moderate exertion of manual effort in transporting materials, equipment, and/or patients; standing and/or walking; frequent lifting, bending, pushing, and/or pulling loads up to 25 pounds. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
