Medical Unit Receptionist

• What We Offer Role is Part time - 2 12 hr shifts per week Join a Team with Heart Step into a specialized Hematology & Oncology unit where compassion, organization, and teamwork come together to support patients navigating some of their most challenging health journeys. Our Hematology & Oncology Unit cares for patients receiving treatment for cancer and blood disorders, including chemotherapy, blood product administration, symptom management, and complex medical care. As a Medical Unit Receptionist (MUR), you serve as the central hub of communication for the unit—supporting nurses, providers, patients, and families to ensure seamless and efficient daily operations while helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for those in our care. • Serving as the primary point of contact for incoming calls, visitors, and interdepartmental communication
• Supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges within the electronic medical record
• Assisting nurses and providers with coordination of care and message routing
• Maintaining accurate documentation, patient charts, and unit logs
• Scheduling tests, procedures, and patient transport as requested
• Ensuring workstations, supply areas, and communication tools remain organized and up to date
• Supporting patient flow in a fast-paced, specialized care environment What We're Looking For

High School Diploma or GED, required.

One year of experience in healthcare, preferred. Licensure/certification/registration: NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. Additional skills preferred: Experience with answering multiple phone lines.
