UPMC Jameson is hiring a Monitor Technician to join the Central Monitoring Team! This full-time role will work both 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with no
. Weekend and holiday work is required, and holiday work is on a rotating schedule. No on call is required.
Assist with coordinating transfers. Notify Primary Care Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor or Charge Nurse of changes. General Secretarial Duties.
Provide copy of shift summary and send to appropriate unit of remote monitored patients. Utilize monitor pause to ensure right monitor, right patient, and right room. Placement of, or send to appropriate remote unit, daily monitor renewal labels.
Daily monitoring charge in Star system. Cardiac monitoring. Interact with families and visitors.
Assist with discharges. Interpretation of cardiac rhythms. Answer Telephones and deliver messages.
At the end of 3-11 shifts, send the past 24 hour record to the appropriate unit of remote monitored patients. Documentation of rhythms by printing end of shift strips, include shift summary and changes. Assist with tear down of discharge charts.
Verbally report to incoming ICT. Assist with transcription of orders if skill level permits. Communication, internal and external.
Management of patients with Cardiac disease and knowledge of appropriate care of the patient with a Cardiac related complaint. High school diploma or equivalent. Cardiac Monitor reading skills obtained through completion of Basic Arrhythmia class.
Knowledge of unit specific policies and procedures. Computer skills. Possess Intermediate Care Unit, computer, typing, organizational, communication (both verbal and written) telephone etiquette skills.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Ability to use Intermediate Care Unit monitors and Central Station, telephone, fax, computer. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
