Licensure
✓Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required.
Certifications
✓BLS (or higher) certification required.
EMT or Paramedic experience preferred
Professional specialty certification preferred.
Education
✓Nurse Residency Program: Every new graduate nurse who joins us is automatically enrolled in the 12-month paid program that mixes both foundational and specialty education in 13 tracks.
✓All New Graduate RN/Clinical Nurse I's will be enrolled in and must complete the DUHS Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire.
✓New Graduate RN/Clinical Nurse I's are required to meet criteria set forth by the DUHS Nurse Residency Program within 18 months of hire to be promoted to CNII.
✓Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.
✓All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date

Emergency Services is comprised of three units: the Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Emergency Department, and Clinical Decision Unit.
