Responsible for overall management and coordination of the service to include fiscal resource management, human resource management, capital improvements and quality of services including enhancement of human experience (patient, families and caregivers).

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Plan, organize and supervise clinical operations to provide careDevelop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of servicesEstablish, in collaboration with interdisciplinary team, positive professional relationshipsFacilitate team meetings, daily rounds and communication among patients, families, interdisciplinary team members and contracting agenciesEstablish and maintain mechanisms to monitor continuing compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, and other regulatory/accrediting agencies' standardsEnsure adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures within the unitEstablish and maintain mechanism whereby staff members are identified as being competent to safely and effectively utilize the appropriate equipment in their work areaAssume responsibility for continuously assessing and improving performance via participation in Performance Improvement (PI) activities and Quality Control mechanismsParticipate in selection of external sources of patient care services when such services are requiredTake necessary steps to determine the complete and accurate charging for patient services rendered as well as monitor, adjust and, where possible, correct negative expense variancesDevelop, implement and evaluate strategic plans and operations via departmental budgets, PI Plan and Management Outcome Plan, focusing on enhancing patient care servicesCollaborate with Care Coordination staff to identify barriers to patient throughput, intervene to eliminate barriers, and facilitate discharges early in the dayOversee, facilitate and monitor patient experience, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP)Other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North CarolinaBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN) or master’s degree in other health related field preferredNursing certification preferred.

Unit Description4 South is a 35-Bed unit: all private rooms. Our patients include Adult and Geriatric patients with the following diagnosis or treatments:Neurological DisordersStroke/TIAGastroenterology Diagnoses and ProceduresGenitourinary Diagnoses and ProceduresPre and Post Cardiac Cath ProceduresPost Myocardial InfarctionPost Surgery Requiring Telemetry MonitoringMedical/Surgical Diagnoses Requiring Drug Therapy/AdjustmentWork

3 years’ clinical experience related to nursing area of management required 3-5 years of management or management-related experience requiredNeed to have at least 3-5 years of Med Surg experience highly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageDemonstrate leadership characteristicsWorking knowledge of budgets, staffing, Performance Improvement as well as regulatory requirementsStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to make informed decisions and handle crisis situations effectivelyKnowledgeable of the NC Nurse Practice ActKnowledge of age-specific considerations for patients servedPhysical
