Nights The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters.
Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesProvides direct nursing care using the nursing process and established standards of practice. Maintains overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients.
Performs all staff nurse responsibilities. Functions as Charge Nurse when assigned. Delegates appropriate tasks to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters while maintaining overall responsibility for patient care.
Provides care appropriate to each patient’s age and developmental needs. QualificationsMinimum QualificationsEducationAssociate’s Degree requiredGraduate of an accredited school of nursingNew hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of hire or transferEmployees hired/transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, must follow the requirements outlined in their offer letter and
- Employees hired/transferred prior to August 1, 2013, are grandfatheredBSN preferredLicensure & CertificationsLicensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida, or confirmation of eligibility for licensure upon receipt of SSNBLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required on the first day of employmentACLS at hire or transfer required for Cardiac Holding Area, CVICU, MICU, PICU, North Pre
- Op/PACU, and Trauma CenterACLS within six (6) months required for 3 ICU-North, 5N CCU, Cardiac Rehab, Non
- Invasive Cardiology North, Non
- Invasive Cardiac Lab, and Progressive RNs in Intensive Care UnitsPALS within six (6) months required for PICU and Trauma CenterFellowship RNs: ACLS, PALS, and NRP within six (6) months when required by the departmentPsych Unit: CPI training within 90 days and annually thereafterProfessional certification preferredExperienceLess than one year of related experience requiredOne (1) year of clinical experience preferredSkillsStrong teamwork and professional communicationAbility to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures related to patient care
