The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters.
Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. All team members will be expected to work all areas of their unit. 3N RNs will be required to work MB, NBN, and attend deliveries. The LD RN will be required to work LD, WAC, LD PACU, and the LD OR.
NICU/NICU SD will be required to work both areas. All Women Service team members will be required to float between units as needed to work within their scope of practice. Qualifications Education Required Associate’s Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing BSN Requirement: New hires effective June 14, 2017 , must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
Employees hired or transferred between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must follow the requirements outlined in their offer letter and the
signed at the time of hire or transfer. Employees hired or transferred into the position before August 1, 2013 are grandfathered under the applicable requirements. Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Professional Skills The successful candidate must: Demonstrate teamwork and communicate professionally with all members of the healthcare team.
Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that impact patient care delivery. Licensure & Certifications Florida Nursing License Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida is required. BLS — Basic Life Support American Heart Association BLS certification is required for all areas.
ACLS — Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Effective November 20, 2025 , ACLS certification is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer . Effective July 1, 2018 , all current employees were required to obtain certification by July 1, 2019 . New hires and transfers must obtain AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification within one (1) year of hire or transfer if they have no previous training. Effective March 1, 2021 , employees must recertify fetal monitoring every two (2) years , along with the required divisional update based on assigned learning.

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) CPI training is required for employees working in the Psychiatric Unit . Initial training must be completed within 90 days . Training must be completed annually thereafter .
