UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is currently hiring full-time Nursing Instructors to join their rapidly growing team of life changers! Completion of an MSN program is required for the Nursing Instructor title. Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects the level of education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.
The individual hired into this role provide clinical instruction to both the part-time and full-time SHY SON programs; the instructor will be required to teach evenings and every other weekend throughout the academic year. About Shadyside School of Nursing: The mission of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is to foster the development of an entry-level graduate nurse who is prepared to transition to practice as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team.
The school is part of UPMC Shadyside which is part of the UPMC health system. The focus of our program is mastery of high-level competencies reflecting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the delivery of safe, quality nursing care. The nursing instructor is a nursing professional who has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for both the didactic and clinical instruction of students in utilizing the nursing process to provide quality patient care.
This position requires the ability to effectively instruct nursing students in the classroom as well as lead the faculty within the course to provide meaningful learning experiences, guide and evaluate the students in the clinical environment while utilizing the nursing process during the provision of care to ensure safe nursing care and quality patient outcomes.

Utilizes effective teaching strategies and provides quality instruction. Designs evidence-based teaching methods and participates in quality improvement and evaluation. Encourages innovative teaching strategies and contributes to educational development at UPMC Schools of Nursing.
Demonstrates leadership and commitment to nursing and school goals, serving as a professional role model and co-chair of committees. MSN required 3 years of clinical practice Precepting experience required; clinical teaching experience in prelicensure program preferred Previous teaching experience preferred. Certified Nurse Educator certification preferred.
Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC approved certification, preferred. CPR Certification for BLS for Health Care Providers CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Registered Nurse (RN) Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing.
