Description

Job OverviewFairview has a Casual Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician opening at M Health Fairview Clinics & Surgery Center. The training period for this role is approximately four days and includes EPIC system training as well as orientation to departmental workflows. After training is completed, expectation is to work an average of two Saturday shifts per month.

Saturday hours are 7:00 a.m. to noon. Our dedicated Eye Care team of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Orthoptists and Nurses, along with Certified Technicians and Assistants, provide next level diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the eye using state of the art technology. Our providers specialize in various ophthalmology and optometry subspecialties including Cornea and Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Neuro Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and Vitreoretinal Disease.

Records patient history while following JCAHPO / Fairview guidelinesTests and records basic Visual Assessment tasks with patientsAssists with testing including Visual Fields, Pupillary Assessments, Lensometry, Keratometry, and supplementary testingSchedules initial and follow-up appointments, including labsAssists with minor procedures and administers eye dropsAssists with overall clinic flow and patient satisfaction What you will need:As a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT): JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) and two years of clinical experience in Ophthalmology as a COT or COAAs a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA): JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) and two years of clinical experience in OphthalmologyAs a Non-certified Ophthalmic Assistant (OA): One year of clinical experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology and the ability to obtain Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification within 2 years of hire is required If selected for hire, compensation and job classification will be individually determined based on a candidate’s specific background, including licensure, certifications, and experience level.
