Primary responsibilities include assisting with eye exams, performing technical workups, documenting medical history, preparing and/or administering medications, and providing assistance during minor procedures. The shift for this full-time opportunity is Monday through Friday with a schedule that varies per clinic (examples include 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) .
The Ophthalmic Technician will assist eye care professionals in providing high-quality patient care by performing various tasks related to eye examinations and procedures. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. Qualifications High School diploma or GED.
Must be able to travel between hospital and satellite clinics as needed. Preferred: Associate's degree in ophthalmic technology or related field. Previous experience in an ophthalmic setting with familiarity with ophthalmic medical equipment.
Proficiency in medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures. Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting. Currently certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology preferred.
