Job OverviewHere at Fairview, we are now seeking an Outpatient Clinic Assistant to join our imaging team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN! This is a casual position that will work as needed by the department during the day shift, Monday through Friday. This position is not benefit-eligible.

Greets and welcomes patients and visitors upon arrival. Schedules patient visits including coordination of the scheduling of multiple physician visits related to the delivery of specialty care. Obtains and updates patient insurance and demographic information.

Ensures authorizations from third party payors are secured in conjunction with UMPhysicians referral management staff. Maintains high visibility and availability at entrance/exit. Is responsible for servicing patients and families until which time patient care staff can assume responsibility.

ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates excellent customer service skills to patients/visitors in the clinic/on the phoneGreets patients in respectful mannerAssesses need for special accommodation/transferResponds to patient questions in an appropriate mannerAddresses customer satisfaction issues in an efficient mannerRelays preparatory instructions to patientProvides direction to patients and visitors to appropriate areas within the hospital, outpatient clinics and ancillary servicesDemonstrates proper telephone and paging system technique and etiquetteCoordinates visits with specialists, diagnosticians, and all other ancillary departments integral to the delivery of specialized care for Fairview patients.

Properly manages medical record information when preparing and transferring chartsDemonstrates ability to prioritize the multiple needs of specialty clinic patients to coordinate services and enhance patient convenience and satisfaction most effectively. Provides secretarial support includingTranscribes physician ordersUses forms/documents required for patient care visitsCollaborates with other health team members, including physicians, residents, fellows, nursing and clerical staff, and other ancillary services, to provide quality care for patients and familiesResponds to patient questions in an appropriate mannerOperates the scheduling, registration, referral, billing, and record results reporting systemsVerifies and completes necessary information for registration, charge capture and referral management processDemonstrates knowledge of contracted payors and obligations of primary or specialty clinicDemonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population servedPartners with patient care giver in care/decision makingCommunicates in a respective mannerEnsures a safe, secure environmentIndividualizes plan of care to meet patient needsModifies clinical interventions based on population serveProvides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giverDemonstrates Commitment to CustomersIs aware of different customer needs/desires.

Takes action to meet customer needs/desires with respect to customer diversity. Helps improve processes to meet customer needs. Suggests and acts on ideas to improve overall customer service.
