Certifications
✓CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
✓Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
Education
✓High school diploma or equivalent.
✓If no previous hospital or pre-hospital training, successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class OR successful completion of the first year of clinical work in a nursing program.
Qualifications
✓Successful completion of basic information system training.
✓Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
✓Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
✓Act 33 with renewal
✓Act 34 with renewal
✓Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
Microcomputer experience preferred.

Obtain and document routineObtain and document routine patient information, such as vital signs, blood glucose readings, intake and output, and patient weights, according to established procedures
Maintain a clean, safeMaintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by completing safety checks, cleaning equipment, changing linens, stocking supplies, and keeping patient care areas orderly
Support patient comfort andSupport patient comfort and wellbeing by delivering meals and nourishments, refilling water pitchers, distributing mail, and providing one-on-one supervision or companionship when needed
