✓Bilingual (Spanish), both oral and written proficiency required.
✓Analytical skills in evaluating patients in order to plan and provide patient navigation.
✓Ability to communicate effectively (public speaking skills) with diverse audiences including professional staff, patients, community, media, and other service agencies.
✓Interpersonal skills to allay anxiety, elicit cooperation, and provide for education of patients/families, and to effectively function as a member of the healthcare team to coordinate and discuss patient needs.
✓Strong organizational skills in order to maintain departmental files, records, and statistical data.
✓Proficient typing skills in order to prepare a variety of materials.
✓One to two years experience working with cancer patients and their families in an informal or formal setting.
✓Personal, unique understanding of the cancer experience (former cancer patient).

About the role

Assists in coordinating referral appointments with health professionals (genetic counselor, nutritionist, psychiatrist, social workers and the like).
