Department OverviewThe Family Birthing Center is a specialized LDRP Women’s Health department providing Labor & Delivery, OB Triage, Postpartum, OB OR/PACU, Level II Nursery, lactation support, and GYN surgical care. This role requires an experienced Women’s Health nurse who is comfortable working independently, collaborating across disciplines, educating patients and staff, and maintaining clinical competency within the LDRP environment.
Required Ongoing Education/CertificationsBLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, and other department-specific education and competencies are completed and maintained according to organizational and department requirements. OverviewPOSITION
The Perinatal Nurse Educator will provide prenatal education and postpartum outreach services for the OSF St. Anthony Medical Center obstetric patients and their families. He/She will provide coordination and guidance throughout the perinatal process, providing continuity of care and quality of services as the patient and family make the transition through pregnancy, delivery and hospital discharge into parenthood.
The Perinatal Nurse Educator is directly responsible to the Clinical Nurse Manager and will confer with and operate under the Maternal/child Nurse Specialist. QualificationsREQUIRED
Three years of Clinical Obstetric experience with exposure to breast feeding mothers. Current Illinois Nursing License. Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
Healthcare Provider CPR must be completed prior to employment.
Baccalaureate in Nursing. Prenatal Education and Lactation Consultant certification preferred, or in the process of being completed within one year of hire. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
