At Northbay Health, the Pharmacy Technician II works under the supervision of Pharmacy Supervisor and oversight by the Staff Pharmacists, performs technician functions and assists with drug dispensing and record keeping. Maintains pharmacy inventory levels and integrity both within and outside the pharmacy. Primary Job Duties Prepared and labeled oral, injectable, neonatal, and hazardous medications under pharmacist supervision in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Reconstituted additives, calculated volumes, and compounded IV solutions and nutritional products using aseptic technique under pharmacist verification. Communicated with patient care units to troubleshoot dispensing issues, IV-related concerns, and medication order clarifications; escalated clinical and pharmacologic questions to pharmacists. Prepared unit-dose oral and injectable medications from bulk stock for patient use.
Conducted IV rounds to monitor utilization and management of solutions with additives. Prepared IV labels and maintained IV additive profiles for patients receiving medication solutions. Processed credits for returned and unused medications through patient profiles in the pharmacy information system.
Restocked medications and maintained inventory levels in pharmacy work areas. Performed medication delivery rounds, restocked patient care areas, and ensured timely medication availability. Managed Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) activities, including report generation, medication replenishment, and billing functions.
Maintained pharmacy inventory integrity and supported efficient medication distribution operations. Assisted pharmacists with drug dispensing, record keeping, and other pharmacy operations as assigned.
High school graduate preferred.
Registration as Pharmacy technician or Intern Pharmacist with the California State Board of Pharmacy is required.
Completion of pharmacy technologist training program. One year of institutional Pharmacy Technician experience required. Knowledge of the laws involved in hospital pharmacy practice.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate competency in basic pharmaceutical calculations. Ability to type 25 wpm and have previous computer experience.
Requires ability to communicate clearly needs and situational assessments.
$35.57 to $43.22 per hour based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
