Draws blood from patients or donors in hospital, blood bank, and or similar facility for analysis of other medical purposes. Coordinates and supervises all activities of employees engaged in performing waived point of care testing by performing the following duties.
and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversees performance, documentation and training of all point of care waived testing and clinic phlebotomy.
Plans, designs and/or oversees all CMMC waived point of care testing policies and procedures. Ensures adequate staffing to cover all outlying clinic locations with the assistance of the lab manager. Plans, designs, and directs installation of new or improved waived testing equipment.
Assists in the inventory and supply system to include equipment for all point of care waived testing sites. Oversees waived testing quality control program in consultation with laboratory manager for all point of care waived testing sites. Consults with clinic and lab staff on work in progress and completed work to assure accuracy of results.
Reviews current literature, attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in waived point of care testing field.. Coordinates and conducts education and training programs for new waived and phlebotomy testing personnel. Provides courier services for laboratory, which will include a working cell phone for consultation purposes and a working vehicle for pick-up and delivery of specimens.
Must have a clean driving record. Ensures all COLA, CLIA, CAP, CMS and Joint Commission standards are met. Normal duty hours will be Monday-Friday at the discretion of the laboratory manager, with possible on-call duties Saturday and Sunday if deemed necessary.
Must work 2 holidays a year and if deemed necessary perform phlebotomy duties on Saturday and Sunday if deemed necessary by lab manager. A valid Texas Driver’s License is required, as the job duties include traveling to all CMMC campuses, as appropriate. Education and/or Experience High School diploma, >10 years experience in hospital related experience and/or training (laboratory preferred; and equivalent combination of experience and knowledge of lab processes and work flow.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified with National Phlebotomy Association or MLT qualified/certification via lab experience.
