A Day in the Life of a Polysomnographic Technologist The Polysomnographic Technologist performs detailed assessments and polysomnograms to diagnose and treat sleep disorders under the guidance of a medical director. This role involves direct patient interaction, including preparation and education on sleep study procedures and the use of related equipment. Key responsibilities include calibrating and maintaining polysomnography equipment, administering tests such as MSLT (Multiple Sleep Latency Test) and MWT (Maintenance of Wakefulness Test), and ensuring accurate data recording and analysis following AASM guidelines.

The technologist must adeptly adjust testing parameters in real-time based on patient responses and clinical observations. Collaboration with healthcare providers and continuous professional development through training and workshops are essential components of this position.
