✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Current licensure* as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where the facility is located, or a state covered by a Nurse Licensure Compact agreement with the facility's state.
✓Although temporary permits may be valid for up to one year from the date of graduation, UPMC requires Graduate Nurses to take the licensure examination within six months of their start date.
✓Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
✓Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
Certifications
✓CPR certification required within 30 days of hire, based on American Heart Association (AHA) standards that include both didactic and hands-on skills demonstration components.
UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Qualifications
One year of previous nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Intermediate Unit (IU) preferred

About the role

Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call responsibilities. This role is primarily a weekday position, with only two holiday on-call requirements per year. Our department maintains 24/7 staffing coverage, which has significantly reduced the amount of call required on weekends and weekdays.
