Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and unit-specific data for process improvement initiatives.Conducts initial patient assessments within expected timeframes, initiates consults as indicated, and identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.Maintains safe practices by demonstrating unit-specific clinical competency and compliance with all regulatory standards.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient clinical critical care skills and critical thinking skills with strong communication skills required.
  • Basic computer skills and commitment to hourly patient rounding required.
  • Previous EKG Interpretation Class preferred.
  • Must possess frequent independent judgment and the ability to handle clinical situations requiring sound professional judgment and critical-thinking skills, including clinical assessment, data analysis, and patient response.
  • Responsible for providing quality patient care and continuously prioritizing multiple duties.
  • Ability to function calmly and professionally during stressful situations.
  • Utilization of assessment, reassessment, and critical-thinking skills in dealing with changes in patient outcomes.
  • General knowledge of professional nursing principles and techniques, as well as the pharmacological process in the appropriate administration or delivery of medications.
  • Skill to maintain effective working relationships with health professionals and others to foster an environment conducive to carrying out the mission of the facility.
  • Skill to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, to direct the overall professional nursing services in a manner that encourages the open exchange of ideas and information.
