• Performs nursing activities in the unit where the nurse is the patient's advocate. Answers patient needs by assisting the physician and person responsible for care. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports DHR vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS­ :
• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
• Current registered nurses license in the State of Texas
• Current BLS certification
• ACLS certification is required within 3 months of hire
• PALS, NRP certification within six ( 6 ) months of hire for Women’s Hospital employees
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
• Prefer hospital experience JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE­ :
• One ( 1 ) – two ( 2 ) years of acute care experience preferred.
• Require constant and frequent judgment and response, occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills.

Chief Nursing Officer Other information: CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
