The Role Working within a 25-bed adult acute inpatient psychiatric unit , you will help shape both the patient experience and the professional practice environment.
This licensed, non-forensic, milieu-based behavioral health unit cares for adults experiencing acute psychiatric conditions requiring a higher level of support and intervention than outpatient or crisis services can provide. This fast-paced environment provides exposure to patients with primary psychiatric diagnoses as well as individuals receiving medical detoxification services, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and substance use disorder support .

Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a clinician focused on continuously expanding clinical knowledge, psychiatric nursing expertise, and leadership skills. As a valued member of the interdisciplinary care team, the RN provides direct patient care to complex behavioral health patients, develops and manages individualized treatment plans, and collaborates closely with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Direct Patient Care Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for adult behavioral health patients. Perform ongoing assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. Administer medications and monitor patient responses and outcomes. Support patients experiencing acute psychiatric and behavioral health crises.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration Partner with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in treatment planning and care coordination. Collaborate with patients and families to promote recovery-focused care and successful transitions of care.
Professional Practice Practice in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. Seek and provide constructive feedback to improve clinical practice. Serve as a collaborative team member while developing emerging leadership skills.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
1 year of relevant experience.
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping.
Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $41.05 - $54.15 hourly.
Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
