About this Unit:The Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RNs are able to float to the Pediatric Med/Surg units as well as the following Pediatric Critical Care units: PICU, Pediatric CVICU, Pediatric Emergency Department and the NICU. The critical care RNs function in the role of charge flyer in which they serve as a resource for the entire pediatric hospital, making staffing recommendations, as well as are members of all emergency response teams, including code blue, rapid response team, and trauma activation team.

This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours) every two weeks on the Night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The RN role offers an additional $2.00/hour for being in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool. Fairview offers a nurse residency program for eligible new graduate RNs taking this role with the organization!

Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data. Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.

Prioritizes interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.. Initiates patient/family teaching as appropriate to age, readiness to learn and available resources. Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.

Uses the full range of therapeutic modalities to support and augment the healing process, moving from least intensive and invasive to more, depending on need and context. Involves the patient, family and other health team members in evaluating care.
