Respiratory Therapist-Lung Nodule Clinic_FT-Days

Perform all aspects and modalities of Respiratory Care to Health System patients per department guidelines. Respond to resuscitation situations and other respiratory emergencies when needed. Maintain and complete appropriate documentation in patients’ charts and departmental records.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Administer continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelinesPerform intermittent therapy and diagnostic procedures per department guidelinesAccess patient medication from the Medication Security Area to implement Respiratory Care per hospital and departmental policies and proceduresInitiate and maintain mechanical ventilation and completes appropriate documentationProvide airway management, ventilation and closed chest compression as necessary during emergency resuscitation and perform intubations after receiving approvalAssess patient condition and response to respiratory care so recommendations can be made when necessary and establish protocols are followedInitiate and maintain monitoring equipment that are the responsibility of the Respiratory Care DepartmentPerform as charge therapists in the absence of a supervisorKnowledgeable in the use of equipment and treatment modalities for patients of all agesCharge for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX systemOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:Associate’s degree from a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program requiredRegistered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) requiredLicensed by the NCRCB requiredBCLS certified by the American Heart Association requiredWork

1 year of clinical experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageUnderstanding of medical terminology and current respiratory care modalitiesAbility to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guestsKnowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson’s Model) to provide appropriate care and intervention, either personally or through staffPhysical
