New Grad or RN with no prior L&D experience will have twenty-four (24) months to complete orientation and certification (if L&D orientation is completed sooner, then the certification will need to be completed accordingly). Should orientation need to be extended, the nurse will be granted additional time accordingly to obtain certification which will be communicated by leadership and / or educator. Staff hired originally into the cost center 638000-Obstetrics Acute by May 1, 2021 are not required to obtain or maintain electronic fetal monitoring certification unless they are cross-trained to 740000Labor and Delivery.
Staff hired after May 1, 2021 must complete Postpartum and Labor and Delivery cross training within twenty-four (24) months from date of hire. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
