Unit Highlights: The Advanced Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a 32-bed unit that provides world recognized care. It is home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States. We provide cardiac surgical recovery care to patients requiring ECMO/ECLS, total artificial hearts, LVADs, heart and lung transplants, CABGs, valves, care for patients with adult congenital heart defects and many more mechanical cardiac support devices.
ACSU is recognized as a PLATINUM level Center of Excellence in caring for ECMO patients. Healing Broken Hearts - As home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach is vital. Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments, adjusting care plans based on patient responses and needs. Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate venous access methods and address any complications.
Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring venous access and infusion therapy. Provide patient education on venous access and infusion therapy to ensure understanding and compliance. Monitor performance of nursing staff, provide feedback, conduct appraisals, and implement improvement plans to ensure clinical and professional standards are met.
