SAP Liaison I - Propel Schools

UPMC is hiring an SAP Liaison I to support the Propel School System as part of Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough. The SAP Liaison I provides education and consultation services to schools through the Student Assistance Program. The incumbent will serve as a specialist consultant to core teams while participating in community prevention activities.

They will perform work duties at off site locations such as schools, community centers and community events. The shift for this position is primarily Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with some evenings as needed. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to work with children in the behavioral health field.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and communicate clearly and concisely.

Provide consultation services to school personnel regarding SAP, normal and abnormal child development, identification of students at-risk and modes of intervention. Facilitate and/or co-facilitate educational and support groups covering topics identified by schools. Attend trainings in accordance with BDAP regulations while pursuing certification from the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board.

Maintain positive communication with school personnel and parents regarding student's progress in program (within the parameters of confidentiality) Perform individual assessments on students referred by teachers and parents through the Core Team. Establish/maintain effective working relationships with students/school personnel/community agencies as well as co-workers. Provide classroom prevention/education sessions to enhance ATOD/MH curriculum upon request.

Attend all Instructional Support and Core Team meetings on a regular basis for all school services. Provide information and intervention referral sources to appropriate services (outpatient, inpatient, etc.)? Conduct individual sessions with referred students.

Provide ATOD/MH prevention and education presentations in the community as requested.

BA/BS in social services/human services with 3 years in child serving system/SAP-Prevention field.
