Coordinate and schedule new, return, and follow-up patient appointments, evaluations, testing, and clinic visits in a timely manner. Answer and route incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff. Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, financial, insurance, and appointment information into EPIC/EMR systems.
Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, nurses, and referring offices to ensure effective communication and follow-up. Maintain, retrieve, and safeguard patient records while ensuring compliance with confidentiality and release-of-information regulations. Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, letters, and other administrative documents as needed.
Coordinate communication with referring physicians and offices regarding scheduling, appointments, and patient follow-up requirements. Manage office operations including greeting visitors, maintaining supplies, handling photocopying requests, and supporting departmental administrative needs. Provide coverage and administrative support for departmental staff, including assisting with secretarial functions and scheduling activities.
Promote a positive patient experience by demonstrating professionalism, service excellence, and knowledge of available healthcare services and financial assistance programs.
This position will work 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday. The shift start times range from 7:30AM, 8AM, 8:30AM, to 9AM. B.
A. degree and 1 year of experience in a related fiscal/admission/registration function; or 2 years of college, business school education, or medical secretary training and 1-2 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of third-party health care coverage and familiarity with medical terminology are required, including an understanding of Blue Cross, Medicare, Medical Assistance and commercial insurance coverage for hospitalization and outpatient service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience in guest relations is preferred. Experience with computer-based systems preferred.
