Job Duties: Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) seeks a Senior Clinical Data Analyst in Chicago, IL to support the research, clinical, quality improvement, and business analytics needs of RUMC. This role partners closely with clinical faculty, Principal Investigators, and stakeholders to gather business and research data requirements, design studies and cohorts, and translate clinical questions into feasible analytic solutions.
Serving as a subject matter expert in clinical data and analytic processes, the Senior Analyst builds and manages analytic data sets, research data marts, queries, dashboards, and visualizations using enterprise data architecture, research data warehouses, and third-party tools. Leads advanced analytics initiatives leveraging electronic medical record data to measure, predict, and improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities include conducting exploratory data analysis, developing and validating predictive models using statistical and machine learning methods, and producing reports that support evidence-based clinical and financial decision-making.
Collaborate closely with IT, Knowledge Management, CRIO/CMIO partners, and research informatics teams to ensure data governance, feasibility, and adherence to institutional policies. Mentors and consults with clinical data analysts, serves as an escalation point, represents leadership in stakeholder meetings when needed, and supports onboarding and development of new team members. Contributes to multi-site research initiatives, committee work, and the continuous development of analytic tools and methodologies.
Delivers high impact analytics critical to organizational and patient-care outcomes. 100% telecommuting permitted. Minimum Requirements Master's degree in health informatics, information science, computer science, data science, or directly related field plus 1 year of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or closely related occupation. Experience must include one year of experience with each of the following: 1) a healthcare data environment; 2) Epic Clarity and Caboodle; 3) statistical software such as Python, SAS, or R; 4) writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures; and 5) data visualization tools, including Microsoft Power BI.
